York Haven, PA Homes - Single Family and Townhome Communities

The area of York County that is now home to York Haven was originally owned by the Conewago Canal Company which was composed of wealthy, intelligent men from Philadelphia. In 1810, right and title to this area was transferred to John Weatherburn of Baltimore. He and his associates were interested in growing and harvesting wheat to be floated down the Susquehanna river to already constructed flour mills in Baltimore.

In 1814, a town was laid out under the direction of the York Haven Company and so the are became known as York Haven.

A strip of pure dolerite stone runs through the York Haven area. This stone was used by the Northern Central Railway Company to construct bridge piers and public buildings. It was also used by F.T. & Scott Company which had a contract to supply this valuable stone to construct a wall around the capitol in Washington in 1882.

Today York Haven is a quiet town on the banks of the Susquehanna River with easy access to Harrisburg and York.
